This country has good resources and a shared-care model in use—a team approach utilizing diabetes educators is common. Insulin is used very little.

The SDM materials have been customized and translated for use in Taiwan under the direction of Dr. Boniface Lin.

An SDM program is in the planning, in collaboration with the country's Diabetes Association and local universities.
