Program Objectives
Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:
- describe the team approach to diabetes management
- identify the components of a comprehensive patient education program
- state guidelines for developing an educational program for diabetes management
- construct appropriate nutrition education and exercise programs for patients with diabetes
- identify the various methods of blood glucose monitoring and insulin delivery, and describe the current technologies applied to each
- identify factors contributing to psychosocial problems in families affected by chronic disease
- describe the benefits of clinical decision paths and the principles of Staged Diabetes Management, and state their applications in clinical care
- state guidelines for adding or adjusting medications based on blood glucose monitoring records
