Team Management of Diabetes
Program Objectives

Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:

  • describe the team approach to diabetes management
  • identify the components of a comprehensive patient education program
  • state guidelines for developing an educational program for diabetes management
  • construct appropriate nutrition education and exercise programs for patients with diabetes
  • identify the various methods of blood glucose monitoring and insulin delivery, and describe the current technologies applied to each
  • identify factors contributing to psychosocial problems in families affected by chronic disease
  • describe the benefits of clinical decision paths and the principles of Staged Diabetes Management, and state their applications in clinical care
  • state guidelines for adding or adjusting medications based on blood glucose monitoring records
